Designer Princess

This girl on tumblr is a genius.
She goes by the name "Disney Bound".
She takes characters from movies an books (mostly Disney) and creates outfits inspired by them.
Even male characters or animals. It's amazing how she does it.
But these were my favorite.
It is her "designer" collection of all the different Disney princesses.
My favorites would have to be Belle, Pocahontas, and Ariel.
What are yours?

I Heart Nerds......

......and their style. I find it funny that what I once thought was nerdy and geeky, is actually looking quite cute now. First off, the glasses. I broke my dad's huge glasses when I was a baby cause I didn't like them. But now...I want some! What goes around comes around I suppose.
Next up, plaid. I always used to think.... eww I look like a school girl. But now I think it makes any outfit look really cute and different. I mean, who would have thought to put it with a fancy-ish black dress? And those socks with booties? Old me- Blech! New me- oh cool! yeah...just like that.
So I used to think that old plain sweaters were boring and granny looking. Same with that knee length pleated skirt. But I think that no longer! I have actually bought myself several "plain" sweaters at Goodwill this fall. And I love em. (still haven't gotten to the 'nerd' point of popping my collar though. and i'm not sure i ever will.)
I just love everything about this outfit. The mixtures of patterns, the glasses, the odd color skinny jeans, and especially the red heels. Honestly I can't see me being that...bold. But I definitely don't go, "eww... that's weird" anymore.
So yes, I do believe that our style sense changes. What I used to hate, I now think is adorb. And what I used to love, I think is kinda dumb now. (i might give some examples of that in a post later on)
Is there anything clothing wise that you used to hate, but now love?

Winter Fashion Tricks and Ideas

So I am sure that it is getting pretty chilly where most of you all live now.
I don't know about you but, I am finding myself getting lazy with the way I dress.
It's cold, dark, and often wet....and I am always in a hurry to go somewhere
or am not going anywhere at all.
I catch myself throwing on either sweat pants or jeans with the same few shirts
over and over again.
I have come to the conclusion that this
HAS TO STOP.
Fall and winter is the time to be creative and fun with your style.
You can layer, mix and match, and try so many cool things.
Here are a few interesting fashion ideas to consider during this cold part of the year.
Maxi dresses are usually summer attire right?
Not necessarily, you can put that maxi dress to use in the winter as well!
Just throw a sweater or long sleeve shirt over it, add a belt if you wish,
slip on your boots, and voila. A comfy wintery look.
How bout some bright tights? I have some purple and blue ones that I often wear....
but I just love the look of these red ones.
They would spice up any outfit I'm sure. :)
Skinny jeans and heals. Just can't get a better and classier look than that.
But what about adding your boyfriend's shirt to the set?
Under a cute sweater?
I like it.
Be brave. Wear a crazy hat. Ok, it doesn't have to be crazy....but at least try a hat.
Any hat.
Hats add so much to an outfit, and keeps your head warm.
Hello! Win win situation here!
Oh, and see her shoes?
Yea....I want them.
Are you brave enough to mix some crazy patterns?
Some flowery pattern with some strips?
Experiment...play around!
Ask your friends or your fellow blog followers what they think of your combination.
You will never know till you try.
Knee highs are my friend. I love them. So much.
In the winter, I never wear a skirt without them.
(unless I trade them in for tights)
But hello!! Where can I find some like the ones below?
I love it!
So... what do you think?
Are some of these ideas crazy and out of your comfort zone?
Yep...me too.
But I need to snap out of this lazy college attitude of wearing the same comfy baggy
clothes all the time...and start playing around and being creative again.
(Don't worry, I have never worn my pjs to class before.)
What are some of your favorite fall/winter tricks to spice up your wardrobe?

Spice Up Your Wardrobe

Do you ever open your closet, dig through your drawers, look though your accessories
and think, "wow, my wardrobe is just drab! I don't have anything to wear!"
(when really...your closet is packed full and your drawers are overflowing)
Don't go running out to buy more clothes, do something with the ones you have.
Spice up your wardrobe with these DIY ideas.
*****************
Use a bleach pen on a plain boring t-shirt.
Draw whatever you want!
Need some headbands? Cut up an old t-shirt and put your braiding skills to use!
Here is a tutorial on how to make 9 different fabric flowers.
Glue them to a pin, and you can put them on anything you want! Got some shirts that just don't fit quite right? They're a little big and baggy, so you just don't wear them and they just take up valuable space in your drawers. Use this tutorial to make those shirts wearable! Put your braiding skills to use once again and make these prettyful necklaces. This isn't a tutorial, but I just though that making button rings is such a good and cute idea!
Go for it! Be creative! Spice up that wardrobe of yours! Save money!
:D

Boho Wanna-be

The last few days have been quite loverly and warm here where I live.
It's a nice change compared to the snow that has been constantly on the ground.
And no matter how I try, I can't help but think about spring and summer.
About how lovely the warm weather will feel, all the summer activities I have planned,
relaxing outside, getting a suntan, and my summer attire.
*********************
Each summer I always seem to try to do something different with my clothes.
Each year, my style is a little different.
But hey, I guess it makes life interesting.
This year I am going to try something totally new,
that will definitely get me out of my comfort zone.
Boho.
I can't help love the bright colors, holy jeans, and flowy materials.
And not to mention the headbands......
Moccasins are on my wish list...
They would definitely complete my Boho look.
This could totally be me.....
Guitars and waves....what more could you want?
What do you think of the Boho style?

Winter Fashionistas

Hello everyone! So, how many of you are in that big snow storm? We barely missed it!
We did get a little bit of snow....but at least you can see most of the grass now.
Don't be deceived...these pictures are from a couple Sundays ago, when there was snow on the ground.
I just thought we both looked so cute. Cute enough to make a post out of it! ;p
My sister is such a model....ppllfftt. ;p And then there's me.... who is not. But that's ok, at least I have purple legs. That has to count for something. I would tell you where I got everything, but I seriously have no clue. Mostly from consignment shops and stuff. I know the tights are from Body Central and my flats are from DEBS. Other than that....no idea. I hope everyone stays safe (and warm) in this heck of a storm! ha ha...it rhymed. *Ashley*

To Spice Up the Winter

I don't know about you, but it feels like I haven't been to the mall in forever.
Where I live, we don't have a mall. We have a Walmart...and that's about it.
So going to a mall is a big deal to me, since we only get to go a few times a year.
What I am saying is, I am craving me some mall shopping!
I mean, I don't want to spend much money at all.
In fact, I am trying to save money for several activities this year.
So if I go to the mall, I just want to buy a few little accessories
to spice up my wardrobe for the winter.
To spice up my winter

I made a little Polyvore set of a few little items that I would like to purchase sometime this winter season.

Included are:

Boots- probably the more expensive item on my list. But I really really need them. I have been patient till now!! I would prefer a rugged, moccasin looking type this time, just for something different.

Tights- are not my thing.... I have ripped 4 pairs in one day before. Something is not quite right there. So this time I am going to try sweater tights. We will see how it goes...

Jewelry- I heart long necklaces. One could always use a few more of those.

Headbands- I think I'm gonna go for the Taylor Swift way of wearing them. (yes, I know the pic is not of Taylor... but that is how she wears them, is it not?)

Hats- I have always wanted to have a cloche hat, mabye one day I'll finally break down and get one. And berets, now that is a different story. They are my favorite kind of hats ever. I would love to buy a few more to add to my collection.

Is there anything you are dying to buy this winter season?

Just Darling

A few Sundays ago, my sister Emi looked so cute. She always dresses more casual than me, so it surprised me when she came out of her room looking so spiffy. When she got home she asked me if I can post a pic or two of her on my blog. Sure...why not. ;) She got these shoes a week or two ago and I think they are DARLING! Too bad we don't wear the same size. :(
So, it is snowing here where I live today.... has it snowed yet where you live? If not, do you ever get much snow? We don't get a ton here, but it is more than enough. :)

Fashion of the 1920's

I absolutely love the 1920's. I probably know more about this time period than any other! (it probably helped that I had to write and perform a script...of me acting like a teen from the 20's)
I find their fashion sense so interesting! Everything from the low low waistlines to the unique bob haircut.
The dresses of the 20's were lighter, brighter, and shorter than ever before...practically a new style of dress! Hemlines rose throughout the decade, but then began to lower near the end. Shoes and stockings gained more attention than ever before now that they were more visible. Women liked to coordinate the color and pattern of their stockings with their dresses.
Here are some more modern dresses that have the unique 1920's look.
Aaahhh.... the "bob" haircut. What would a girl in the 20's be without it? It was the bee's knees! The "bob" was introduced to the U.S by actress Louise Brooks. (pictured below)
I found this really interesting article about how ladies back then trained their hair to do that unique curl or wave look. Sounded like a big pain in the behind!
Drew Barrymore with the "Flapper Bob". Doesn't she look darling? I love it on her!
And now the hats.... which are actually called Cloche hats. I really want to buy one now! They fit well and make a good winter hat because they go low enough to cover your ears! It is such a signature accessory that a flapper look will be achieved no matter what you wear! Warning, you will stand out! But thats not always bad is it?
Headbands are great too! Just stick a feather in there and Viola!!!
Actress Angelina Jolie and Katie....something or other...
Well, I am now on a look out for some twenties looking dresses and accessories. I was inspired by my own post! I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while (which was only like 5 days....but hey, that's a long time for me!) I have just been so busy with homework and I've kinda had a creativity block. Don't you hate those? But the flood gates have been opened and ideas are flooding my brain! The only problem is...I don't have time to carry them out! AAHHH!!
Hope you all have a great day!
